Khao lak

The region of Khao Lak is exceptionally beautiful with its pristine beaches, heavenly lagoons, cascading waterfalls, and impressive woodland brimming with wildlife. It’s surrounded by Khao Lak National Park and Khao Sok National Park where specific zones have been allocated for tourism and the possibilities are numerous, trek through the jungle or try rafting on the river before discovering the colourful and exotic birds of the area.

Khao Lak has such a beautiful coastline that it would be a shame not to take an excursion, whether it’s a short cruise or a day trip to some of the nearby islands and beaches.

Khao Lak offers an abundance of opportunities to scuba dive whether you are a novice or qualified. Phang Nga Bay and The Surin Islands are highly recommended for a great dive or snorkelling experience where you’re guaranteed ample sightings of brilliantly coloured fish, manta rays and whale sharks, sea anemones and colourful coral. The Similan Islands comprise of a number of small secluded islands and is an international diving destination, acclaimed for its gorgeous scenery, both above and below the surface.

Phang Nga Bay

Khao Lak has such a beautiful coastline that it would be a shame not to take an excursion, whether it’s a short cruise or a day trip to some of the nearby islands and beaches. Phang Nga Bay is one popular option, legendary for its impressive limestone formations and secret caves and lagoons. The bay itself is home to a sea gypsy village supported on stilts in the water with an enormous limestone rock as a dramatic backdrop. Famous of all in this area is Tapu Island, more often called ‘James Bond Island’ due to its part in the film 'The Man with the Golden Gun'. The natural formation rises 20 meters above sea level and makes an exceptional photo for any traveller or tourist.

Diving & Snorkeling

Khao Lak offers an abundance of opportunities to scuba dive whether you are a novice or qualified. National Parks

One of the main benefits to staying in Khaolak is the proximity to the national parks. Spend at least a day exploring Lam Ru, trek through the tropical evergreen montane forests, swim in Ton Chong Fa waterfall, look out for flying lemurs, exotic birds, Hornbills and Sea Eagles, and unusual fauna and flowers. The local nature will dazzle your senses. 

Buddhist Temples

With Buddhist temples everywhere in Thailand make sure you visit at least one on your trip and learn more about this fascinating religion. Wat Bang Riang, ‘Pagoda Temple’ is located on Khao Lan Mountain, a beautiful setting to view the intricate golden Buddha images and original architecture, whilst Tham Suwan Kuha Temple unexpectedly hides a 15-metre reclining gold Buddha inside a cavern on the side of a limestone mountain.

Local Markets

Bang Niang market is a busy market, held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. It’s an exhilarating place to visit with a gorgeous colourful array of fruits and vegetables, tasty street food, and lots of souvenirs, Thai textiles, T-shirts and local handmade handicrafts. Taste the sweetness of sugarcane juice or a fresh coconut hacked open with a machete right in front of your eyes, and don’t miss out on trying some of Thailand’s exceptional desserts.

International Golf Courses

Spend the morning playing golf at an international golf course. The Phuket Mountains act as a backdrop to Tablamu Navy Golf Course which features an 18-hole layout, some of which play alongside the Andaman Sea. Kirinara Golf Course is another popular and superbly designed 9-hole course with a scenery of dense palm trees, water hazards, tough greens and mountainous slopes, all of which calls for an exciting round of golf.
